OMLife The Ordinary!

GUYS, guys. We have to talk about The Ordinary...

So I'm scrolling through ASOS, minding my own business when for some reason I decide to take a look at their skincare and beauty products. Now, I very rarely use ASOS to purchase any of my makeup or skincare products, so I'm not really sure what possessed me to have a look, but I'm so glad I did.

In all honesty, the factors that pushed me into purchasing two of The Ordinary products was the packaging and application. Yup. All those YouTube and Instagram "beauty guru's" got me with those pretty little pipette dropper application products. The price was highly appealing too, so me being an impulsive shopper, I added the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to my shopping basket, using my premier account to get free next day delivery.

And let's just say, I was so impressed that I went ahead and purchased the Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%...

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

The Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 is the first product I use in my regimen. It's recommended usage is in the morning and night after water based products and before moisturisers however, I only use this in the morning. After just a couple of days, I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. This product promises to hydrate and repair the skin, which I think it does really well! I have noticed that my skin has looked and felt more soft and a lot less dull than it has been recently. At only £5.90 on the manufacturers website, Deciem and £6.00 on ASOS, this is a definite must-have!

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Of the three products I've tried, this one is most definitely my favourite! It promises to regulate sebum as well as minimise pores. As someone who has combination skin, but predominately an oily complexion, I have noticed that while my skin still produces some oil, it isn't as excessive as it was before and is at a level that I think it should be at. The acne on my forehead has significantly decreased, so I'm very happy in that respect! It recommends applying this product in the morning and evening, after water based products and before moisturisers, but again, I only use this in the morning. The only thing I would say is that if your gross like me, and can't help but pick at your spots every now and then, this does burn slightly on open skin, but not enough for me to really complain about it! You can buy it on Deciem or ASOS for only £5.00.

Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%

Now, the Lactic Acid product is a little more high maintenance than the other two that I have bought. It is recommended to be used before bed only, and can be diluted with other products until your skin builds a tolerance to it. They also recommend using a suncream and wearing protective clothing for a week after first use. It also has a slight smell to it, which isn't bad, but isn't great either. It is an acid, so you should avoid contact with the eyes, trust me, it's not pleasant! Does it burn the skin? No it does not. This was one of my concerns when I purchased it, but so far I have had a rather pleasant experience with it. If you are worried, they do sell a version with a lower acid content at 5%, which is available on the manufacturers website.

This product is considered a peeling exfoliator, so it is intended to decrease the appearance of skin defects such as acne scars. Unfortunately, I have slacked a little and haven't been using this persistently every day, but even so have noticed some fading in the appearance of my acne scars, so, I'm a happy girly!

  1. These sound really good, the lactic acid sounds quite scary at first when you think about protective clothing etc. But I can understand why. I think when I get a bit more money I may try things like these in with my normal routine.
